Tips and Hints


1 bag butterscotch morsels
1/2 C peanut butter
5 C corn flakes

Microwave chips and Peanut Butter 2 to 2-1/2 min, stir (should be smooth). Add corn flakes and stir to coat. Drop by teaspoonsfuls onto cookie sheet. Chill.

Can be frozen.

VARIATION: 3 C Rice Krispies, 1/3 Cup Peanut Butter. 1 bag butterscoth morsels. Press into buttered 9 x 9-inch baking pan. Chill until firm.


5 T butter or margarine 1/2 t salt 6 C your favorite Chex cereal 1/3 C grated Parmesan cheese

Melt butter in large skillet over low heat. Stir in salt. Add Chex. Stir until all pieces are coated. Continue to heat and stir for 5 to 6 minutes or until Chex are lightly toasted. Sprinkle on cheese; stir to coat all pieces. Spread on absorbent paper to cool.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS: Melt butter in large bowl on high 50 to 60 seconds. Stir in salt. Add Chex; stir to coat all pieces. Microwave on high 2-1/2 to 3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds. Sprinkle on cheese; stir to coat evenly. Spread on absorbent paper to cool.

YIELD: 6 Cups


8 C Crispix cereal
2-1/2 C small pretzels
2-1/2 C bite-size cheddar cheese crackers (optional)
3 T vegetable oil
1 oz packet Hidden Valley Original Ranch Dressing Mix

Combine cereal, pretzels and crackers in a large plastic bag. Pour oil over mixture, close bag and gently toss until coated. Add Dressing Mix to cereal mixture, close bag and gently toss until coated.

YIELD: About 10 Cups


3 C Wheat Chex cereal
2 C Raisins
1/2 C dry roasted peanuts
1/2 C slivered almonds, toasted
1/2 C carob or chocolate chips, or peanut butter chips
1/2 C banana chips or coconut chips

Combine ingredients; mix well. Store in airtight container.

YIELD: 1-3/4 Quarts

NOTE: Trail Mix is something you can add to, take away from, or change. It really has no recipe. You can use all kinds of cereal like Cheerios, Kix, Crispix, etc. M&Ms and Reese's Pieces work great. Just add what you like.


4 egg whites 1/4 t cream of tartar 1 t vanilla 1-1/3 C sugar 1 C chopped pecans 1 C shredded coconut 3 C Corn Flakes cereal

In large mixing bowl, beat egg whites until foamy. Stir in cream of tartar and vanilla. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff and glossy. Fold in pecans, coconut and Corn Flakes cereal. Drop by rounded measuring tablespoon onto well-greased baking sheets. bake in 325F oven for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove immediately from baking sheets. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 3 dozen macaroons.

VARIATION: Merry Macaroons: Fold in 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy with pecans, coconut and cereal.


POPCORN DRIZZLE - 1/4 C maple syrup, 2 T butter, pinch of cinnamon. Microwave 3 minutes Drizzle on 6 Cups popcorn. Toss.

STIR FRIED KIX - Melted butter or margarine, Kix cereal, salt. Melt butter in frying pan, add kix to one level and leave room to roll around. Toast slightly. Put on paper towel, sprinkle with salt. NOTE: Good with Garlic Salt, Onion Salt or Seasoning Salt also.
